Eligibility Search

I don't know if this is the right board for this question! You know when you do an eligibility search for a cc or loan, either on MSE or MoneySupermarket or whatever, do they only use the information you give at that time, or do they use your credit file? Thanks.

The make an 'unrecorded enquiry' (often referred to as a 'soft' or 'quotation' search) of at least one of your 3 credit files.
The above may be confirmed by reading the eligibility checker T&Cs/FAQ on either here, moneysupermarket, or wherever. Always a good idea.

Thank you. I was hoping that was the case as at the moment I've got almost zero chance of getting anything BUT HSBC have marked my loan payments as late (they're not) so that probably explains it. I ring them every 3 months and ask them to correct it :wall: Was worried my income was just too crap lol!0

You have more patience than me!...HSBC have marked my loan payments as late (they're not) so that probably explains it. I ring them every 3 months and ask them to correct it :wall:
Why not "ask them" a different way?...

Lol! I've got a direct number now to complain but I still have to say I'm going to the ombudsman blah blah, then they suddenly apologise and get it changed. Then the following month they do it again. I've complained to Noddle so many times that they don't include it on my report any more but the others still do. It's nearly paid now luckily!0
