I'd say you were paying too much.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

I wasn't paying anything because i wouldn't lease a car for normal everyday use.

I wouldn't lease a car for normal everyday use because imho it's a false economy. As long as my car gets me from A to B it doesn't have to be on trend or flashy. Leasing a car is dead money-unless you hardly ever use a car apart from a couple of weeks a year to go away or something. For regular every day use i'd choose buying over leasing.

I wouldn't pay money to drive someone else's car, it just doesn't appeal to me on a personal level.

Nothing handles like a rental though

Leasing a Chrysler Grand Voyager for the last three years has been an absolute waste of money.
It's a great car and I've enjoyed it, but have paid £500 per month, plus all servicing and repair costs - fine up to a point in that I knew what I was getting in to.

However, returning the vehicle has been a nightmare. I spent almost £1,000 on a final service plus MOT; £400 on scratch repairs and then when it was inspected by the lease company (Mercedes Benz Finance) they sent me a bill for £1,300!

Sorry, but if anyone can point out the plusses in this deal then please let me have a one-way ticket to your home planet.

Never, ever, lease a vehicle - there are NO advantages. Just take a few thousand pounds out of the bank and burn it in your local public square - it will give you more satisfaction and less hassle.

Was having the final service and MOT done, part of the contract? What was the repair bill for?

As an aside, anyone who values their life, should never drive a Grand Voyager.

Why would you want to own something that depreciates when you drive it off the forecourt.

You get a brand new car, freedom of choice, any make, any model. Delievered free of charge nationwide at the beginning of the contract and at the end of the contract. You get Road Fund Licence every year, no MOT to pay for, you can even include servicing at a fixed monthly cost.

You get the latest cars with high MPG, low CO2's and all the latest gadgets.

For more info see Target Car Leasing at targetcarleasing.co.uk or call 01903 368664

Agree that I would not particularly like to own something that deprediates immediately. However, I would be even less keen to pay that depreciation plus interest to a finance company, which is what happens when you lease a car.
At the end of the contract period, you then have insult added to injury when you need to pay an amount invented by the finance company to make them even more profit - you know who I mean, Mercedes Benz Finance.
