Free Boiler Scheme

I just called the number for Scotland to see whether I qualify for a free boiler. Unfortunately there always seems to be a way to not qualify with these schemes. My boiler is over 10years old, it is leaking and I have to put the heating on in order to get any hot water via my combi boiler. I earn way less than £16k as I am on enhanced disablility and had to cut working hours. I receive working tax credits. Because my heating and electric bills are not high and I am a low user, I do not qualify, I think they want blood! The only schemes that were available were a loan scheme and a home energy scheme whereby you have to use their Green supplier and pay way more than you would by employing your own corgi registered plumber and then they give you a portion of the cost back. That was a twenty five minute call on my phone bill to get no help whatsoever, is there a scheme to get my telephone bill charges back?

Make and model? CORGI ceased to be the authority about five years ago, it is now Gas Safe Register (GSR). I'm confused about why you think you might need a new boiler, since most boilers should last more than 10 years. The 'leak' could be a very simple fix, and the other fault sounds like a faulty diverter valve, which is not a major repair. Of course it could be something more terminal, but you don't know that yet.
Find an independent GSR RGI who is familiar with your make and model and get it checked out. When was the boiler last serviced? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I don't think any of the new boiler schemes have allowed the replacement of a faulty boiler. Boilers had to be in working order."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0
