Seller in Hospital

  • The OP is in a difficult situation but I also agree it would be totally inappropriate to start trawling the hospitals trying to find out information about this lady, or doing anything else to find information out. If the sellers wanted you to know.., they'd tell you. There may be no support for the lady, she may be too confused, the relatives may be concentrating on getting the lady well or making plans for next steps. Whatever the reason, trying to find out what is going on will do nothing but reflect badly on the OP.

I would strongly advise looking for somewhere else. In a couple more weeks you may have a better idea what is going on, she may even feel better. To be honest, buying from an 80 plus year old, was always going to have a higher risk of things going wrong than if you are buying from a 30 year old (and that's not exactly guaranteed stress free).
  • We were in this position a few months ago. Unfortunately for us the sale fell through as the elderly seller became too ill to move into the assisted accomodation she was buying so decided to stay in her house with carers. I hope you get better news that we did!
  • OP what did you do in the end? Just found ourselves in a similar position out of the blue (seller not elderly) and won't have any form of update until at least the New year. Agent just told me that the family had been told to expect the worst :(
Don't know what to do, other than keep an eye on what comes onto the market after Xmas if we don't have any more information.
