The poor childminder is in imminent danger of being hung drawn and quarted on here!
Maybe it was something in the email that has got her backup, maybe she is dealing with constantly moaning parents who knows but OP you and your wife are 2 professionals and really need to try and learn to live drama free. Did you really need a validation of your request on here?

Poppie - its an internet forum. It doesn't cost to post on here. issue? If people did not post things the forum would not exist.

Also, stating the obvious, but if you think there is a thread on here that you feel is unnecessary or spurious (as you seem to think in this case), I don't understand why you continue to not only read it but post on the thread also?

If someone on this forum decided to post 4 times a day what meals they were eating it would not bother me at all. It has no affect on me. No-one forces me to read it. Its not my forum or my internet so why should I worry about it.

    - charging for days she shouldn't have been
    - not keeping proper records
    - not being professional in her dealings with clients

I don't agree that childminding is unique. If you're offering a service and charging for it then you're running a business and need to be capable of all that entails - whether that's keeping a proper record of your finances or knowing how to deal with enquiries and complaints.

if someone couldn't cope with an email without sulking and didn't know whether someone had cancelled a day or not, it would make me question whether they had a handle on everything else they needed to - are their first aid qualifications up to date, are they only looking after the right number of children etc.

There is nothing in the op to suggest the childminder doesn't keep proper records, if anything it reads like the incorrect records is a problem the op has.

Not really poppy the op did state this had happened before and they let it go without raising it as they think she's a good childminder.
I agree she's being very defensive whether that's because the email was ruder than the op thought or she frequent over charges I don't know

In which case she should have simply referred to her records and politely replied to their query stating the facts.

He didn't say it had happened before he said the bill had been 'variable' which could mean a plethora of things....

My granddaughters childminder has a sign in/out sheet for each child which the person has to sign, date and time in/out every visit, she gives her clients a copy each month with the bill......do others do this?

I agree but she shouldn't be accused of being 'caught out' without any proof...
From the op the most any of us can 'accuse' her of is over reacting.

Well we can accuse her of anything really, but we don't know her - so what difference would it make

P.S I bet she makes a rubbish cup of tea!

I continue to post and read because just like you I'm perfectly entitled to!

I just think people have been very quick to take your first post that to be honest wasnt accusational towards her and run at 20,0000 miles phr with it, another couple of pages and she will be a candidate for the electric chair.

Imho because I try to be level headed is....You seem to be hard work, not a criticism just an observation, nice guy but hard work. Maybe her reaction is unwarranted or she has dealt with your 'hardworkness' previously and this has pushed her over the edge?????
I don't understand your 'variable' comment as from most of your other threads your a very astute man and don't for one minute believe you would let anyone get away with continuing with issuing you with incorrect variable bills.

She is obviously aggrieved warranted or not so if you want to rescue the relationship you need to go face to face and explain your valid query.

I can speak for myself only......no I don't know her. From the ops forum history he and his wife seem they could be very identifiable to some that know them personally. A relationship between a parent/child and a childminder is or should be a sacred one, you are trusting them with the most precious part of your life. I'm sure the childminder or even a close friend could identify themselves/friend on here and take serious offence of accused of being an over emotional criminal.... It's not beyond the realms of possibility as I have been able to identify 2 people I know personally on MSE.

Well the childminder needs to separate her 'job' which is childminding

And her business - which running a company.

She might be a great childminder, but absolutely shocking with record keeping.

Rooney's a decent footballer, but I wouldn't let him run the club!
