DWP Health and Disability Assessment

Hi,

My sister received a letter from Health Assessment Advisory Service - Centre for Health and Disability Assessment - based in Five Ways House, Birmingham.

It say's "We have been asked by DWP to carry out an assessment in relation to your benefit claim".

My sister is in receipt of carers allowance for disabled child. She also in receipt of IS as a top up benefit. She was receiving ESA around 6 months ago but that was stopped and changed over to IS.

I don't understand why it has been referred for Health Assessment. My understanding is that is only needed if you are on ESA or DLA.

When she made an application for child DLA which was only 6 months ago she provide allot of evidence from school and council. The child is now attending a special school.

Can they ask to attend such interviews when you in receipt of Carers Allowance & IS? What assessment will be carried out by medical professional when she is not in receipt of adult disability benefit.

Seems like DWP haven't updated Centre for Health and Disability Assessment that the claim was closed,

I would give them a call tomorrow and explain there not in receipt of ESA anymore.

There is no medical needed for a person who claims carers allowance or Income support.
