Is this crochet pattern correct

I have already crochet this to near its completion and unpicked it as there is one problem with the pattern I cannot solve. There are 10 pattern rows


It states making a chain of 181. On the first row you Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each to end which leaves 179 stitches. Keeping to the 179 stitches causes a problem when I am making the bobble row.


So sc in first sc, *MB in next sc, sc in next sc; repeat from * to last sc:dc in last sc: Turn.


How many bobbles should you have at the end of the row.


I feel that there should be an even number of chains as this row consists of a bobble and a single crochet. And I am ending up with varying numbers of bobbles.

I am not a crocheter but I do know that US crochet terms are different to UK - it's not that causing a problem is it?

If it's not that, then all I can add is that there are 159 completed projects on Ravelry and I don't see anyone saying there are errors in the pattern. Try asking on Ravelry (free to join if you aren't already a member) because the help and advice there is almost instant no mattter the time of day thanks to more than 5 million users all over the world.

Remember this is written in US terms.

However many stitches you have, if you're doing pattern then a plain stitch all the way along the row, you should have:

the number of stitches in the row minus one, divided by two
So in your case -
179 - 1 = 178/2 = 89
or think of it this way -
Put 9 fingers up and look at how many bobbles you would make on 9 stitches. You would have 4 (9-1=8/2=4)
You would have the first and last as plain ones then the bobbles spaced evenly along with plain in between them.

I've just seen your post on Ravelry and the replies, so sorry if I'm repeating anything.

Are you making the correct stitches?
US dc is UK treble crochet, so doing FPDC is hard enough with uk trebles without trying to do it with double crochet!

Are we going to see the finished blanket? I can't wait - it looks amazing.

I have only just seen your questions. Special thanks to Mrscd for your input above I have managed to keep to 89 bobbles


I restarted the blanket and used markers which have kept me on target with the 179 chains I need. To make this easier I place a marker every 20 chains with 19 at the end. It is so much easier to work like this so thank you for the suggestions.


Yes I am doing the right type stitches as I am aware of the difference between US and Uk


I will try to post a photo for you all to see soon.
