i have an EE broadband modem/router i found in my spare room. My mac is hooked up to the BT modem/router in the bedroom.
Can i use my spare EE modem/router with the kids pc to connect to my BT modem/router in my spare room?
Ideally there will be a way otherwise i need to pick up a wireless dongle or something...
Any help/tips is greatly appreciated.

You can't hook two broadband routers to the phone line; however you may be able to use the EE router as a second wireless access point, cabled back to the BT one.
My recommendation:-
Find out what IP address is used by your BT router. Presumably the subnet mask (a mask which determines which addresses make up your local network and which ones are on the other side of the router) is 255.255.255.0, which gives you a block of 256 addresses to play with, minus the bottom one (the address of the network itself) and the top one (the broadcast address).
I'll assume here that your BT is the default one of 192.168.1.254.
Start up your EE router NOT connected to anything else.
Plug your PC or laptop into it and web browse to it; to get its address run a "command prompt" window and type ipconfig /all, the address you're after is the default gateway. On a Mac go to System Preferences -> Network -> Ethernet -> Advanced and look for the gateway.
Somewhere in the EE router's settings there will be a DHCP server. Turn this off, the BT hub is already doling out IP addresses so you don't want the EE box doing it as well.
You will also need to change its IP address. You want one in the same range as your BT hub but not the same address, 192.168.1.253 may be appropriate in the above example. You will also need to change its default gateway (if you can) to 192.168.1.254 so that it knows how to get to the internet for automatic time updates, etc.
Once you've done this, restart the EE box and connect one of its LAN ports to one of the LAN ports on the BT box.
You should now find that if you connect to the EE box's wireless LAN you can surf the internet, as the EE box will allow the wireless device to connect down the cable to the BT box and away.0 -
Link the kid's PC to the main BT router using a pair of Homeplugs. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
