Bathroom paint - views/advice required

Options
Hello
B&Q have 15% off all coloured emulsion from today until next Thursday. I'm redoing my bathroom in October and have decided to take advantage of the discount and buy my paint now.

My question is which is better, Crown or Dulux bathroom paint? B&Q own brand is also included but I'm a bit dubious about it's quality, not based on any experience of it but just a gut feeling.

The colour I want is a muted green which is available in either brand, I just want to know which is the best quality.

I'm hoping to buy it next Wednesday when my mum can get me extra 10% off so any views up till then would be appreciated,

Thanks
Ayesha

  • I would always go with a brand name, if you buy B&Q's paint and it flakes off you'll blame yourself for buying that paint, if the brand name flakes off you'll blame the paint.
Dulux trade paint is suppose to be good having said that though I bought dulux bathroom paint a couple of weeks ago.
Its quite thick and a pain to put on with a brush.

I decorated my old bathroom with B&Q's paint. Loved the colour, hated the finish.

This time I've used Dulux which I had made up at a trade centre to the colour that I wanted. Much happier. The previous owners had some mould on their paintwork where they hadn't used a proper bathroom paint on the ceiling by the shower. I'm told that this won't happen with my new Dulux paint (it hasn't so far, but has only been done a month!)

I would have no qualms using Crown either, just settled on Dulux this time, but wouldn't use B&Q again.
