Parking Tickets In My Own Home

I have just been to court and ordered to pay £1080 for parking tickets received outside my own home. I was a tenant at a flat and had a parking permit for a space. Another resident permanently occupied that space. It was a huge car park so I parked in a different space. I altered the permit in pen to see that I couldn't park in my space and parked in another (which was always free).
I picked up 5 tickets in a month. The tickets eventually stopped as I explained my situation to the parking attendants. I later received a claim form bringing me to the small claims court where the judge accepted I lived there, accepted I had a right to park there but found in favour of the Claimant as 'thats what the law says'.
How can this be??

Your recourse now is to take out a claim against the person who WAS in your space. Sue for trespass, the damages being the amount that you are out of pocket.0 -

yes!
perhaps the OP would like to state the name of the parking company , the date of the court appearance and the claim number.
then perhaps we might believe him , and be able to suggest things.
as it is , its just a one post "beware parking Co,s , they have teeth"0 -
