Talk Talk Cyber Hack

Things must be bad, over five days since the latest update and nobody has been able to access their account on line since it happened.0
-
The easiest way to explain it to older folk, is that data has been pinched that would allow someone to call them up and pretend to be talktalk ..
Then explain that there is no need to worry, and that the simplest thing to do, is that if she gets ANY calls from TalkTalk - Simply say no thank you - wait 30 minutes and then call them back to see if it was indeed them that wanted you0 -

Of course not
Just don't accept any calls from anyone pertaining to be from TalkTalk and this may aswell have not happened0 -

The CVV2 security codes on the back of the credit cards were not taken.
What can you do with part of a credit card number? Parts of my credit card number appear on receipts. Doesn't concern me.0 -

They took details that contained partial card numbers, with no CVV2 - Completely useless ..
In fact , here is part of one of my credit card numbers 5726-2451
Do with it as you will0 -

How do we know this is the truth? I don't want to sound all 'truther' but I wouldn't put it past TT to be less than forthcoming about the full extent of what was taken.
I also have no idea what you can do with part of a credit card number. Perhaps you only need part and you can generate the rest using random number programs or something. It may or may not work, criminality is opportunistic.0 -

Its ok - If this is keeping you awake at night you can simply cancel the card that talktalk had the details for ..
Call your bank now and cancel it
Then you definitely do have nothing to worry about0 -
How many people pay their TT bills by credit/debit card ?
Don't the vast majority pay by DD (direct from bank accounts) ?
If this is the case - shouldn't we be asking about account numbers and sort codes and whether anyone can withdraw any funds with these details ?
I am assuming that the DD Guarantee will protect us ?
Does anyone know of anyone who has actually lost any money through this hack ?0
