Hi,
live in an old cottage and even with our new boiler our gas bills are huge, scarily huge. Electricity is ok.
Been recommend to switch to British Gas Collective Fix December 2016 as will save me hundreds.
But would I not be better switching my gas supplier only ? Are there any that offer cheaper gas than others ?

Why not use a comparison site and see for yourself?
In general each fuel with a separate supplier will be cheaper and will outweigh any dual fuel discount. But, in general, the difference may be small.
Your postcode with your likely usage on a comparison site will show if it is worth it for you.0 -
(Your electricity bills may be small - but the percentage extra you are paying will still be high if you don't switch its tariff, too.)0
