Hello all
My freezer is a Hotpoint 1st Edition FRIDGE FREEZER RFAA52P and for some reason its filling way too much of Ice?? How can we resolve this? Is there a certain temperature it should be and if so how do we decrease it?
Thanks all in advance.

Defrost it.
Is it frost free? If not then every now and again you have to defrost it.63 mortgage payments to go.

Best thing to do for now is to start eating everything in there.... over the next month.
This will be a good thing because it'll then be empty and you can turn it off and defrost it.
Then it's clear and defrosted, just in time for stocking up with Xmas goodies and more interesting stuff that you've been forced to eat in the past month.
The operating manual (if this one's correct) http://www.mychoice.co.uk/media/handbook/Hotpoint/RFAA52P.pdf on page 5 shows a temperature regulating knob in the top right hand corner of the fridge. Turn it down a smidge.0 -
I had a damaged & worn door seal on a previous freezer which mad it more prone to icing up0

Wrap everything up in newspaper to stop it thawing out and put bowls of boiling water in the freezer. As it starts to defrost chip the ice but be careful not to chip the freezer walls.......

Buy another freezer so that you have somewhere to put the excess ice.0

Thanks all for the advice. Really helpful. When it defrosts where will all the water go? Will it run all over floor?
What temperature do you think we should have the freezer at? Not sure how we control the temperature of freezer as can only find a dial for the fridge?0 -
You have to be ready with old towels to mop up the water.
There maybe a control inside the fridge which will control the temp of the freezer. Iceing up is a common fault. To get a frostfree freezer you'll find they cost more than the standard ones. They ice up more if the room is cold. My FF is in a unheated porch and in winter it seems to freeze up all the time.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

There should be a little spout at the bottom - maybe one which pulls out - and you put a tray on the floor under that for the melt water and remember to empty it a few times so it doesn't spill.
I just put the stuff from the freezer into the fridge to take advantage of the insulation, as much as will fit anyway - some of the fridge stuff comes out for this. And as others have said turn it off and leave the door open with pans of hot water in there. Don't chip away at the ice as you might damage the fridge if you are too hard. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

When i said earlier about chipping it away, i wait until it's half melted then only use something like a plastic spatula to scrape it. Like getting the ice off your car windscreen.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Most refrigeration sold in this country is designed to work in a room between 10° & 30°, outside that it won't work properly.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0
