Video to ipod problem

I am trying to put a music video on my ipod video, but get this message -
"Some of the songs and videos in your itunes library were not copied to the ipod because they cannot be played on this ipod."
Why is it saying this, do i have to 'convert' the video first? (it is an MPEG Video).

Yes. You have to convert it to another version of MPEG. See your user manual. Here is some freeware for that purpose; http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/0
