Why have Lowri Beck 01942614100 left a message on my answerphone today asking me to put my meter readings in by either phone or their website? Looking on whocallsme they have been doing this years. Surely my energy company would send me an email and I would put it on their website. I'm wondering if this is a plan to take over supplies to npower. I have no intentions of doing what they are asking.

Lowri Beck are one of the big meter reading companies that a number of energy firms use to take meter readings...

No they genuine had them recently and I submit regularly meter readings.

Coop use them or do in my area
  • I started my employ with them prior to 1999 so they ve been around a while. A few companies use them, Npower and Utility Warehouse. Most of the big six use meter reading companies..its cheaper, BG, Scot Power, EDF and a lot of Eon work is done by G4S.
  • It sounds to me like Lowri Beck are cutting corners - I would suggest contacting your ‘supplier’ and asking them to pay you for doing Lowri Beck’s work.

More seriously, though, you need to know the historic meter readings on your account. If your bills have been based on estimated readings rather than actual readings, then there is a serious possibility that there is a considerable imbalance between your true energy costs and the payments you have made. It may be that your account is in credit, but it may also be that you are considerably in debt.

Thanks for your replies. I still don't understand why the message did not include my name nor the energy company (EE) and why I needed to input the data onto their website. That is what made me sceptical. I have inputted the readings onto the extraenergy website and as you may know getting a bill from them may be a long process. If a company needs my meter readings and are not sending someone to read them even though I input them then I find it strange.
I have had 2 bills from them over the past 18 months , the last one in July and covering up to May 2015 , so much for the 3 monthly bills that they promised recently.

Bondy - I really hope you are keeping your own records of meter readings and doing your own calculations of your energy costs according to the prices of the tariff which you are subscribed to. If you have been paying a supplier-managed monthly DD for 18 months without any monitoring of your actual consumption and costs then you may be heading for a fall. And if you have now defaulted onto your supplier's standard prices, then your costs are probably significantly higher than they need to be.
