Why will nobody renew my home insurance??

Hi,
My current home buildings and contents policy is due for renewal.
After obtaining quotes through confused.com and moneysupermarket I chose the best one and rang my current provider to tell them I wont be renewing with them.
Today when I try to purchase a policy whichever site I go through it tells me I cannot continue as they can no longer help me due to background checks being completed since the quote was generated!! This happens when I try to purchase with other providers too! What is going on??? Nothing significant has happened and I havent made a claim in 3 years...what are the usual reasons insurers wont insure you??
Confused!!

Claims history/conviction history/poor credit report/previous cancelled policy/post code claims history are some reasons0

Try ringing an Insurer with UK based staff eg Direct Line / Churchill and if they can't quote you may get an indication of why.0

Have you made a claim, then withdrawn it? That still counts as a loss and needs to be declared. When you try to take out new insurance your new insurer will check the database and will see there has been a claim.
Also some insurers ask about claims within the last 5 years.0 -
Some years ago we were burgled and when the time came to renew we had some trouble getting insurance from anyone other than the insurer that we had been with at the time of the claim. I don't know how long this went on for, but we no longer have the problem.
I expect the other companies wanted to wait until we could say that we had not claimed for X years.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
