Not massive wins but nice all the same
I had a kitkat with no wafer sent a funny picture twit to Nestle saying i think they had missed something. In return they gave me a £5 voucher and a really funny letter explaining how it had happened
Butchers cat food the tins were missing quite a bit from the top. I contacted them by phone with the batch number ect they sent me £15 worth of vouchers and some dog treats (I had mentioned that the dog food had been fine which was the batch number before the cat one) as they didn't want my dogs to feel left out
I always complain when I feel it is needed had lots of free meals, drinks on the house, vouchers ect but I find that when you are friendly rather than shouting and screaming you tend to get a little moreFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
I ordered a DVD and book that didn't arrive. An email to Amazon and within 12 hours I had a refund and the book resent to me for free (the DVD was only fulfilled by them so they could only refund me).
I also recently ordered an expensive vacuum cleaner and paid extra for a fast delivery at a time that suited me. I got a confirmation email saying it would be there the day after not in the slot I wanted. I complained, Amazon asked me to cancel the order, place the new order for a new time slot and then they would refund the postage I would pay for express delivery AND they gave me £50 off the item too as compensation (without me asking for it). I was very impressed (as a few years ago I remember their service being shocking). :T0 -
I complained to South West Trains about location of toilet which made my journey most unpleasant and received £25 voucher !
I would say that Wowcher are not great at sorting out problems
Asda and Lidl I have recently complained to - one about slipping on wet floor and the other about very unsatisfactory lamb steaks and received no recompense just an apology !0 -
Twitter works better for some companies than others. Companies that do Twiiter quite well: Asda & Matalan. And the ones I've found that aren't very good: Home Bargains, Scottish Power, Nivea, Three. Make sure you get the correct twitter account (some have a general as well as a customer service account).
I second Amazon's customer service too, I haven't had any compensation but they are always quick to sort issues, refund/replace.November GC: £50.55/£130. October GC: £72.60/£150

I complained about the quality of some strawberries from Waitrose, but by mistake sent the e-mail to Sainsburys. Guess what even though I said I was disappointed in their " essential " range Sainsburys actually sent me a voucher.
Not a great amount, but it certainly ranks as a result to me.0 -
I saved my Mum £18,000 by complaining.
After my dad passed away, in 1997 my Mum contacted the bank about their mortgage as he had life insurance on it. They said the life insurance had been cancelled so she would still owe the remaining mortgage of £18K. I complained, they could not produce any evidence to show that my Dad had cancelled the life insurance. After several meetings they agreed to write off the remaining mortgage. I should also say that they were professional throughout. Big result!0 -
To the CEO of IKEA. After my sofa delivery was put back with short notice, I was left without anywhere to sit. The call centre offered me £20, so I e-mailed the CEO and was offered a £50 refund, £50 vouchers and some meal vouchers for in store.
Also, Apple have been good. Took my laptop back under extended warranty, it was returned scratched. They replaced the scratched part, then the fault replicated. Took it back with a bit of a grumble (store was about 40 miles from home) and they replaced with an upgraded specification.0 -
My iron burst into flames while I was using it, and popped loudly. Though I had an email asking for more details from Russell Hobbs after my first email to them, I then rand their customer services who couldn't have been more apologetic. They replaced my iron and offered me £150 of goods from their website, Remington and George Foreman. I suppose this was a sweetener for something which could have been a lot more destructive but we're happy.
I also bought a Scandaleyes eyeliner from Superdrug which dried up pretty quickly...after an email to their customer services, I was emailed asking me to return the faulty liner and to choose 2 products from their range, which they the sent to me.
I suppose complaining about a genuine problem helps companies improve their products and service...0 -
I find it's sometimes better to politely query a problem rather than complain. For example, I asked Sanex if they'd changed the formula of their sensitive deodorant as it had started to irritate my skin, and they sent me £10 worth of vouchers. And a question about a caterer's pack of cling film got me a whole new pack, so now I won't need to buy cling film for years!
That said, though, just yesterday I complained to Currys about what I considered to be appalling customer service and got offered £30 as a good will gesture, so getting shouty also helps!0
