Old sky card debt

Options
Hi there

Checked my credit file for the first time recently to hopefully become debt free (fingers crossed) and its showing an old sky credit card (transferred later to Barclays).

I've been in touch with Barclays who told me that it s been on file for years, and that 6 years had gone by in September 2015 which meant it would 'drop off my file'

Anyone have any ideas what this means please? I was also thinking of possibly chasing it up with a ppi claim?

Thanks

You want to reclaim PPI on an outstanding debt? The lender will simply offset any reclaim against what you owe.
  • Default on a card and then consider claiming ppi refund is hilarious

The default should have dropped off 2 months ago. Has it?

    Hi

Presumably they mean that a default was added to your credit file in September 2009. After 6 years a defaulted account should completely disappear, or ‘drop off’, your credit file. As Ben8282 says, it should have dropped off 2 months ago.

If there has been 6 years (5 years if you live in Scotland) where you haven’t made a payment or acknowledged the debt in writing, and if there is no court judgement for it, it becomes statute barred and unenforceable.
