Can I Sell My Old Doors?

No, not my record collection of old Doors LPs because frankly they're priceless to me.
I'm having a loft conversion done and need to replace all my doors with fire doors to meet building regs, and was wandering if there is a market out there for my old doors. They're in good condition - any money I can recoup will help me rain in my overspend!
Does anybody know if it is possible to sell old doors?

yep there is a market for pretty much anything! ebay and gumtree are probably your best bets, or local paper0

Stick them on Gumtree and see what happens. As long as they're standard sized then someone may be interested.
The only potential problem may be that, quite often, when you buy a new door it needs to be trimmed slightly, as not all frames are perfectly "standard" sized. It's usually only a matter of a couple of mm here and there, but it may mean that they won't fit a "new" frame perfectly. Any buyer would need to be aware of this possibility.
But if someone's prepared to give you a few quid for them then you've lost nothing by trying. An alternative to Gumtree is a local Facebook "items for sale" page if you have one in your area.0 -
Yes you can and some people will pay good money for them if they are original.
The only problem you may encounter is sizing....all doors arnt the same size.
We recently needed a whole set of new doors(someone previouly had cut out the middles and replaced with glass which couldnt be used anymore going forward) and I would have killed to get my hands on something authentic that fitted our rather small and slightly not normal size....I trawled ebay, reclamation sites and breakers yards....and ended up having to pay a fortune to get them handmade to fit the gaps.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

You see them all the time on Freecycle, unless they're something special i can't see many would buy them.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

I've put old doors up on freecycle three times now and no one has bothered to turn up to collect them. Feels very wasteful taking perfectly good stuff down the tip!0

depends what they are and their architectural significance, even plain four panel Victorian doors sell for a fair bit now, minimum £50 at the reclaim yard try your local reclaim yard they may give you something for them.
If you like your original doors have you asked the BCO if they would let you extend the smoke alarm system to cover all habitable rooms rather than fitting fire doors.0 -

I have recently put two internal doors on various sites, both for a cost and for free and no takers.
I feel the same that it will be a shame if i have to take them to the tip, but looks like i may be doing so.
Maybe someone will want some firewood?0
