0% interest expiry

Hi,

Sorry I'm not 100% sure if this is the correct place to post this, so apologies if not.

Just a little curious on something - we had a 0% interest credit card, and stupidly couldn't remember how long that period was for. We were suspecting it was due to be up soon, but thought we'd be notified - turned out our suspicions were right and we were charged interest this month. But we weren't notified of the 0% interest period being complete, or given any warning that it would resume to normal rate - is this normal? I felt like an email or letter to let us know the period was up would be something we would have received?

Maybe I'm being a little naive, just was a little shocked that they didn't warn us!

The length of the promotional rate would have been clearly stated when you took out the card. I usually write a note in my diary for when it's going to end ( or I suppose these days the more tech-savvy would put a reminder on their phone ! ).

Some companies will notify you as a courtesy, but they're under no obligation to do so.

Not sure who you are with but my statements from Barclaycard online you can see when the end date is on there

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
