Capita Tracing and Data Solutions

Today I received a letter from Capita Tracing and Data Solutions, saying that Royal London may have lost contact with me and listing a few companies who I may have had a policy with and who have now become part of the Royal London Group. The address given for Capita T&D is 65 Gresham Street, London, EC2V 7NQ.

I have had a savings style life policy with at least one of the listed companies, but it finished years ago and I received a pay out at the end of the term as expected, so that policy is now finished with.

They want me to confirm various details (not bank details), but the one which has me worried is my National Insurance Number. It's stated in the form that my NI number is mandatory information. Could this be used fraudulently for ID theft?

Basically what I'd like to know is whether anyone else has had this letter and whether Capita Tracing and Data Solutions are going to scam me or rip me off! Can anyone help?

Did you ever use a personal pension to contract out of SERPs back in the late 80s, early 90s?

Your NI number would be essential in tracing such plans.

They are legitimate. They are used by insurers to trace people who have policies that have gone missing. Typically pensions.
