Easyjet compensation/refund help

Good Morning,

You may of already had a post similar to this on the forum already but I was unable to find one.

Flight details below:
Tenerife South to Bristol
Dep 22 August 2015 21:20
Arr 23 August 2015 01:25

At around 01:00 flying over Milton Keynes the pilot announces that there is an issue at Bristol airport and they are awaiting more details.
At roughly the time we was due to land the pilot makes another annoucement stating that there has been a bomb scare at bristol airport.
So due to this we was diverted to Cardiff airport.

When landed we were waiting to hear from Bristol airport if we could still land there at some point that morning.
We was on the plane for 5hrs just sat there waiting for updates, until eventually they said they cannot land at Bristol airport due to the bomb threat.

Once in Cardiff airport there was nothing set up by Easyjet on what we can or need to do for travel back to Bristol.
There was about about another 5/6 flights worth of people that had been diverted to Cardiffs airport. For those of you that have been there that is alot of people for such a small airport.

Being 5am on a Sunday morning there was two memebers of staff in the airport getting surrounded by angry/tired holiday makers.
As nothing was set up by Easyjet all customers had to find there own way home, with the airport setting up taxis at £150 for a return back to Bristol airport.
As we had just been on Holiday funds were limited and as my car was in the Bristol airport parking we had to make our way back there.

Our trip was as follows:
Cardiff Airport - Cardiff train station - £5 x2
Cardiff train station - Bristol Parkway - £24.80
Bristol Parkway - Bristol temple meads

Bristol temple meads - Bristol airport - £7 x2

Landing time in Bristol should have been 01:25hrs on the 23rd, after finally getting back to Bristol airport and having to drive back to Swindon we got home at 14:00.
over 12hr travel to get back from Cardiff when we first landed.

I'm having real trouble making contact with Easyjet I keep giving them all the information they need, but they seem to be beating around the bush.

Have I got a strong case to make a claim for my money back?
Also for the long delay on the plane sitting there for 5hrs until we was able to unboard, will I be able to claim compensation?

I am unable to post the bomb scare link on the thread being a new user.
Google Bristol airport bombscare 22nd August 2015 there will be plenty in the news.

Thanks in advance
Max

  • You may get expenses but anything else highly unlikely as they cannot determine a real or hoax bomb so it is a safety feature that needs to be used unless people are happy to take a risk which I very much doubt.
  • It's not the airlines fault that you couldn't get off the plane. You aren't entitled to compensation for having to stay on it. You are entitled to reclaim what it cost you to get back to Bristol Airport, as long as you can provide the necessary receipts.
