London City Airport to Excel

I'm after a bit of advice please.
I've been looking at public transport options to get to the Ibis at Excel centre from London City Airport.
Tried twice and got different online responses - one offered DLR to West Silverton and then walk whilst a second query offered walking to Royal Albert and then taking DLR to Customs House.
I can't see any road from LCA to Royal Albert station, just the Thames. Is this a correct route or is Google map making it up?
thanks

There's a footpath from the airport side of Connaught Bridge (at the roundabout where the A1020 and the A112 meet) that goes underneath the bridge and crosses the water
Edit: depending on luggage, I'd either walk from LCY to the Ibis or spend a few £ on a cab.
If you insist on public transport, check buses, IIRC there's one from LCY that stops somewhere near Prince Regent station/Victoria Dock Rd and then it's not far to walk the rest. Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -
I've checked for you using City Mapper - the bus is the 473 towards Stratford from bus stop J at the airport, stop at Prince Regent.
You might want to get the app, it's free (and useful!)Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -

when are you going as strike action has caused most of the DLR to be shut down today and tommorow so it is bus or walk for the next two days
if the dlr is back up and running when you go then get the DLR towards the city and change at canning town and then get the DLR towards beckton get off at customs house, total journey time is 15-20 minutes
it is walkable and will be just over one mile and will take 20-30 minutes

the blue dots follow the footpath that crosses the dock avoiding the main road0 -
Personally I'd only walk that during daylight. That part of docklands is full of curving slip roads with vanishing pavements; it's easy to get disoriented.
Interesting walk if it's a nice pleasant day and you don't have excitable kids running off into the road. Otherwise DLR to Canning Town and double back to Customs House. If they're not on strike!0 -

I agree with the walk during daylight hours, not a walk i would do on my own at night
also there is a lot of construction work and areas that are closed off due to the cross rail construction on the excel side of the connaught bridge0 -
Excellent advice - thanks. Am going next weekend so no strike action planned. I'll be arriving in the dark so, despite my good intentions, will not be walking!
:T
PS in edit:
Do I need to get two tickets for the DLR then? I'll be using a contactless card. Perhaps I don't have to tap out of the station and back in again?

No just tap in and then out when you get to Excel.Dont rock the boat

Brilliant, thanks.0 -
if it is the first time you have used your contactless card then when you first tap in it may come up with seek assistance
if this is the case then just move the card away from the reader and then try to tap in again should work second time
I think the fare with a contactless card will be £1.50 total
https://tfl.gov.uk/
put your journey and arrival time details into the TFL site and it will give you details and journey times
if it tells you to take a bus then select the less walking option and it should come up with the DLR journey i mentioned above0
