I know some banks might have issue with you previously having been in prison depending on what it was for, others won't though, so best to be upfront when you go in just incase.Proud dad to two little ones who light up every day
Live every day like its your last because you never know it might just be!
I do work for a bank however any comments I make are my own and should not be seen as me giving advice or in any connection to my employer.0 -
If you weren't in for fraud, make sure they know this. The big block for bank accounts is bankruptcy and history of fruad
Also I'd go to a branch with 2 forms of ID, as it might be difficult to verify your address electronically0 -
A credit union may well help, if a bank can't, lots of credit unions offer accounts to people whilst they are still in prison!
I have an account with my local credit union, and I've had a loan with them, and I'd highly recommend them
You can search for a credit union here - http://www.findyourcreditunion.co.uk/home

Your local Citizen's advice bureau will also help if you need advice regarding accommodation etc, good luck!0 -
I am very surprised that you apparently did not get any rehabilitation support before your release. Here's a website that might help: http://www.pffs.org.uk/faqs/prisoners/, but you could also simply try your local CAB. Good luck, hope you don't get into bad company again.0
