Disagree with the comment about contents insurance, i think we're paying maybe £6-7 a month, which covers up to £50,000 and £1,000 on a single item. It's a very small price to pay in the event of burglary, fire/flood damage.

Depends on the person/area. We've left our backdoor open almost every night for the last 2 years, never robbed. Would an insurance company even pay out if no forced entry?

I was seeing quotes of around £10/month and having to pay an excess also. If you shop at Cousins it might seem worthwhile, not so much with Gumtree

    Electric -£17.00

Wow you don't use much electric!

£4.25 a week, you surely can't have many electrical devices in your flat?

The main missing ones are probably a washer and dryer which are both on the communal electricity bill.

Might be a bit of a shock to have to run those!

Other than that I think we've got enough electrical things for two people! Laptops, screen, printer, not forgetting essentials router, phones, fridge, freezer and lighting etc. No telly though.

The only other thing I can think of is that we have gas hobs and an electric oven. Boiler is a combi one but I'm not sure that it makes much difference.

While we do have a lot of electrical devices most of them are off most of the time which helps.
