Cold feet on house purchase

  • You will never find anything risk free.
You don't seem at all happy with the new house so it is probably better to stay where you are and keep looking. You can put up with the noise as long as you know it is temporary and the good thing is you don't seem to be struggling to find buyers for your flat.

50% seems a high figure to me. We have a section of apartments tucked I to the back of our estate that are labelled as social housing but are actually a rent to own scheme. Could that be what is going on with the houses on the new estate?

FWIW it sounds like you're in a high anxiety situation and it now wouldn't matter what choice came along, you'll still be highly sensitised to it all.

If I were you I would proceed with this purchase and then look at things again a couple years down the line xxx

Its 50% housing association. 50 private homes 50 housing association. 8 shared ownership homes, 4 shared ownership flats, 38 social rented

The flat is lovely and in a prime street (the house opposite just sold for 3 million) we are the scummy block of flats ;-) )

I was worried about finding a buyer to start with but now I think it will not be to hard. 25 viewings and 3 offers over 7 weeks. The noise is more I'm over sensitive and the soundproofing is crap lol

All joking aside I don't think you want a new build house and would really prefer an older style property.

I'm also not sure that you want a semi-detached property. You have problems with noise from the person living above you just now, just regular living noise nothing excessive, and there are no guarantees you won't get that in a semi-detached property.

    Pull out of the scrote-ridden-slum
    Sell your flat.
Rent while you look for somewhere you actually want to live in long term.

This is not a difficult scenario to fix.

Normally I'd post "It's normal, everybody feels like that, you'll be fine". But, for you, I suspect not as it's not your dream house and never was....it's some random knee-jerk reaction to your initial house choice not being sold to you.

I fear your right. We have gone for something that is completely not us. But there is sooooo little choice out there.

Funny you say this as its exactly what we were going to do after the cottage fell through. But luckily we didn't as we sold again in a day for £10k more. Prices where I live are rocketing and we could be left high and dry. That's what makes it so hard.

Perhaps you should just act on your instincts which seem to be telling you that this isn't the right house.

Hope you find your special home soon :)
