W10&Graphic Cards

I have a gt610 1gb Nvidia installed but due to the bugs with "display driver has stopped working" I have reinstalled an Amd hd3650 512mb which works but is not ideal.
I surf and watch Kodi(live and videos from hardrives) so no gaming, but find the 3650 lags and would like a better graphics card AMD as they seem to run better with W10.
Best suggestions for a 1gb or 2gb cards for under£40-50 please.

If that is your budget then it's pretty much a choice between these two:

Alternatively scour the second hand market however don't buy a AMD less than the HD5000 (HD6000 or above ideally) as these are only supported by the Microsoft WDDM driver and not AMD's driver for W10. Just be wary of your PSU wattage rating.

Out of interest what is the system spec, make and model would be helpful.

    Medion 8828 (7-8 year old)
    Core2duo 2.66
    PSU is 350w I think.
    W10 32bit
    4gb ram (3.12 used)
500gb main drive plus 1.5tb for media
Run through HDMI/vga to a Sony tv.
Have been looking at the R7 240 2gb at Rakuten £41.
    And thanks for the reply.
  • Buy another GT210 or a GT220? They're cheap enough £20-£50 or so. "Display driver stopped working" isn't necessarily a driver problem if the hardware is faulty it's unable to communicate with the device so will throw out that error. If you'd just swapped it with a replacement GT210 you wouldn't even need to have replaced the drivers.

It might be a good idea just to check you have the latest BIOS installed for that model, BIOS download located in driver section.l:

Double check the exact model against the label on the machine.

As others have said, it is worth checking drivers and other hardware in the system. I have been using an Asus GT610 in a windows 10 PC just fine since August. It's an old pentium dual core processor, 300W PSU and used as a HTPC, so very similar processing to yours.
  • Bios is up to date(that is the same file I have)

And the gt610 ran on 8/8.1 abd W10 previews until we got pat the 10000 mark then the trouble started.

The card runs fine in 2 other systems (W7& Vista)

Thanks for the advice :( will probably try the R7 240 and will report back.

Don`t want to revert back to Vista or W8.
