  • For me it wouldn't be about handouts or extras it's about getting what you wanted(promised) and being treated right.

I would be wanting everything the way I had agreed, even more so if I had it in writing and also I would be after a refund or a reduction on the costs you had to pay to their nominated financial advisor.

Obviously it's up to you how you proceed but I would include in my email that I was disappointed with the broken promises, the way the sales person treated you and his incompetence.
I would go on to add how much you like the development and how you've heard a lot of good experiences about Barratt and that's why you're sending the email in the hope they can make your experience more positive.

We've been told by a couple of people not to complain now and wait until everything has gone through, as they could choose to make our lives even worse or possibly just pull the whole thing.

If we have exchanged contracts and everything is in place mortgage wise and we're a couple of weeks away from completing; legally could they just palm us off and leave us with no house?

But won't you then be in the same position of not having things the way you want?

I don't think there's anything to lose by pointing out the sales person's unprofessionalism.

Well they could, but it'd cost them a lot of money.

I'd escalate things, sounds like you were sold a property that in reality never existed.

Don't expect to get far with the director, we have a barratt's house there head office don't care. Wait until you complete and have issues...the fun starts
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

There have been several threads on various boards where people have posted on companies' Facebook or Twitter accounts. These have got instant responses after having emails or phone calls ignored. Businesses are often very aware of the potential damage to their reputation from publicly viewed comments.

Just think very carefully about how you word your comments so you put them on the spot without saying anything that could be turned against you.

A Barratt rep has seen this and made contact with me. I'll keep you updated on the conclusion of the matter.

Thanks for everyone's help, it's been much appreciated!

Well, we didn't get the best response.

We just got an email from a Sales Manager that didn't understand why we are so upset. It was just basically a bullet point email explaining why their suppliers sometimes discontinue items and why they changed the layout of the house.

No understanding of us being misinformed continually.

We've just accepted it for now and will draw a line and see how things progress from here. Obviously if things don't get any better then we'll go higher.

I must admit I am slightly worried about how things will pan out and haven't really had any confidence replaced.
