Who are beneficiaries in a Will?

I just want to know, if you are named in a Will are you a beneficiary?
Therefore for whatever reason, even if you are named in a Will, why wouldn't you be a beneficiary?
Because me and my siblings and I are named in a Will, but we were not informed at the time of the execution of the Will, and now have been told because we didn't attend a meeting that we are not beneficiaries

What is the wording of the relevant bit where you are named? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Sorry this is a bit confusing do you mean you were left something in the Will, i.e. property or money, if so then yes you are a beneficiary and should receive what has been left to you.Slimming World at target0

Anyone entitled to receive something in a will is a beneficiary. WHo has told you that you have no entitlement?I just want to know, if you are named in a Will are you a beneficiary?

Have you seen a copy of this will?0

You can obtain a copy of the will from the probate office if probate was obtained. You do not lose your bequest because you did not show up to a meeting, it is the executor's job to find you and give you your bequest.
Technically you could be named in a will and not be a beneficiary, if you were the testator or the executor.0 -
Hard one to answer without much more detail but to throw a few scenarios into the mix you could be named to receive a specific item that no longer exists or you could be named as alternate beneficiaries in the event of say the death of the original beneficiary.0

It would not normally be possible for someone to be ousted as a beneficiary because they did not attend a meeting (unless of course the person making the will is still alive and has chosen to exclude you becuase you didn't show up to mee with them!)
Have you seen the will?
What is the 'meeting' which you were told you didn't attend, and were you told about it before it happened?
Who has told you that you are not a beneficiary? All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0
