Dfs ppi

Options
I bought a sofa on 4 years interest free credit from DFS in 2007 and PPI was sold on the basis that it was standard to qualify for the 4 years 0% deal. BUT more importantly at the time of signing my husband had a broken Tib and Fib and had just undergone an operation to insert metal rods and was clearly on crutches so not working and we told the sales guy that. On that basis I think the PPI was mis-sold as the small print states that if there is an existing medical condition you cannot be sold PPI. Tried to claim but they bounced the claim. Anybody have any similar experience?

If you have complained to the firm about the PPI and had a formal rejection you have the right to refer it to the FOS (within 6 months of rejection), I suggest you do so unless you have new compelling evidence that you think DFS need to consider.

If the policy would cover you and you were making the payments on the sofa (such that if you had a reason to claim, you could have done so), I can see why they have rejected it.

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
