Do American Express offer any retention deals?

I am due to receive ny cashback in the next few weks from my AMEX Platinum Cashback card. As soon as I get it I plan cancel it straight away as I do not find paying £25 fee for 1.25% cashback card being a good deal. I already have 1% Mastercard so extra 0.25% is not worth £25 fee.

However I have house move coming really soon and really want to have 5% cashback offer asap.

My current plan is to apply for Platinum Cashback Everyday Credit Card so I could have 5% offer for 3 months.

However I am not sure if this is a good idea because I am thinking if Amex would offer me 5% for three months as a retention deal meaning I can keep my current card without having to apply for worse Everyday card

Of course I could wait until I get cashback and find out myself but I really need to start buying appliances for my new home asap and can not wait for 3 weeks to find out if Amex offer me any deal.

So I wanted to ask if any of the forumates had any retention deal from Amex?

Ditto. My Cap One World Mastercard had the cashback removed so still on the look out for a replacement.

I'm in the same boat I guess with Amex 1.25% cashback with £25 pa Fee. My dad has the 1% cashback card no fee though. I wonder if I can just downgrade. Mine's due in March.

Sorry, no feedback on retention offers.
