Tesco Bank

I recently opened a Tesco Internet Saver account with a large sum from a bond which matured. My experience of the Tesco's Internet Bank was so poor that I closed the account after 2 weeks. I found it eventually impossible to use, unlike my internet current account with another provider which is a dawdle. Very disappointed considering I have found Tesco's customer service in other fields to be excellent.

Does it even offer the best rate? I assume the internet saver here is mostly used just for the direct debit they allow to setup to use against other DD required accounts

In what way? I operate a Tesco Internet Saver without any particular difficulty.

Tesco Internet banking is too fast and modern for you. You prefer to use an Internet banking service that dawdles.

If you're going to grumble, it's useful if you explain why.

I have 2 current accounts with Tesco and an Internet saver with negligible balance. I've never had any issues and have found their online product to be the best of any providers I've used.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Further to add to my previous reply, I just opened a internet saver to fulfil my TSB DD switch bonus. No problem at all using the interface for the saver or bank account.

I have been using Tesco internet banking daily for at least 2 years now and have no issues with it. I have two current accounts, 3 savings accounts and literally dozens of DDs, and a handful of SOs. Everything is always working like clockwork.

Tesco also got a marvellous feature no other bank offers, ie. all your payees are available to all accounts. Plus, it offers true 24x7 banking, with none of the weekend processing interrupts you get everywhere else.

To add: on the occasions I had to ring them (e.g. to close an account), I found their CS brilliant.

At 1.5% AER it's not too bad a rate, if you've filled up the high interest current accounts or not planning on holding the cash for long.

I have a fairly large pot with them myself at 1.4% AER. I've resisted the urge to hop from rate to rate as bonus periods expire though, as I didn't want to stick my head above the parapet what with the large numbers of DDs on two of my accounts with them.
