Problems accessing/submitting things on the internet.

Options
A month or so ago, i noticed whenever i pressed the thanks button on MSE, it immediately took me back to the top of the page. Around the same time, i started having problems on other websites - for example, i mystery shop, and when trying to access the screen to report my results, it lets me submit, but nothing happens, the little bar at the bottom of the screen shows that its doing something, but when it gets to the end, im still on the same page.
Ive now noticed that its doing the same on my mortgage website, it lets me log in and enter all my details, shows ive logged in, but will no longer take me to my balance, it does the same as earlier.

Can anyone help tell me why this is happening, when it never used to - and what i can do to stop it!!!
Thanks in advance.

What browser are you using? Have you tried uninstalling, then reinstalling it? It it's XP & IE6 (not IE7), you can try a repair.

If you use an alternative - Firefox / Opera - does it behave in the same way? G

IE could be corrupt in some way. We've pinpointed IE is the problem then - good.

You can tell in IE > Help > About Internet Explorer. If it's IE7, you can just uninstall & reinstall - no windows disk required. Download a fresh copy of IE7 if required.

If you have the I386 folder you don't need the Windows disk to run sfc /scannow - see this. But if you don't have this folder, it would be a good idea to copy it to your hard disk when you get hold of the Windows disk. This scan is sometimes used to correct other problems as well. G
