  • They have not been labled wrong, I worked there and checked it myself to start with when I noticed a few weeks back alot of people buying them and a customer actually pointed it out to me. It is a genuine subsitute:T
  • Very nearly made a fool of myself yesterday.... bought mine on Friday and tried it out yesterday, but it wouldn't switch on. Was getting seriously frustrated with it and was about to take it back to Argos when I discovered the (very tiny) on/off switch on the bottom!! Serves me right for trying it out without reading the instructions!

    Worked a treat :T

Now do I get rid of my trusty Garmin I3 for this...decisions....decisions

So is the Sony substitute also a guaranteed sub?

I don't see why the Sony is priced so much more, it only has UK/Ireland maps, no digital camera... I don't see anything special about it really except that it has a larger screen. I wouldn't want too large of a screen or it could block your view too much while driving.

It worked for me but I would do a view item first. I have not tried it out yet but the screen size will be an advantage for me and will not obstruct the windscreen at all, as it will mount between the two centre air vents on my Ford Focus where the Garmin sits now.

I was working in my store and noticed that a customer had ordered a Navman F20 sat nav (cat no 504/0137) but was given a Navman N40i (cat no 039/0253) instead. I double checked the cat no and it was the right number, but on the wrong product. I thought it would be a one off, but when I went to look at the rest of the stock they are all the same! Not sure if it's the same across the country. If it is, it's a great bargain... £200 worth of sat nav for £130!

Thanks Colliefrog for this great post - have reserved one for collection this afternoon.:T

Perhaps this review might help a little?

We actually bought our satnav from Halfords in July: the large-screen TomTom One XL Europe model, £197 online from Halfords, around £270 from Comet (at that time.) The XL has worked fine and, for some reason, has definitely "stuck" to our car's windscreen more securely than the TomTom 510 our son was kind enough to loan us on a recent holiday -- must be a different type of mount?
  • Hi,
Can anyone who has bought one of these (N40i) tell me does it come with the european maps on CD? I need it for a holiday in france in a few weeks time and I'm hoping they will be in the box!
    Ta.
    Nice to save.
