My credit report (Equifax) still shows 2 defaults from 2009 on it. These are seriously affecting my credit rating. I thought that defaults dropped off your report after 6 years of the default date. I have contacted Equifax but nobody has got back to me yet. I also have another default due to drop off in February, once this is gone I won't have any defaults against my account and hopefully a pretty good credit rating. I'm concerned because I would like to finance a new car next year because my current one is costing far too much in repairs. I was relying on my credit score to be good so I can get a decent finance deal. Does anyone have any advise/information about defaults?
Do what you want because in the end people will judge you anyway.

Equifax can take a few weeks to drop the default and account after the 6 year date.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks for that Fermi, although the 2 defaults in question came to the 6 year mark in May. Should I chase Equifax up about this?Do what you want because in the end people will judge you anyway.0

If the "default date" = sometime in May 2009 on the report, then yes.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
