"Adobe Flash Player 7 is malicious"

Please could anyone explain why I get the following message.

151101_adobe.jpg
I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".

Addendum , I see you have chrome I don't use it but I gather that chrome no-longer or shortly will stop supporting [STRIKE]chrome[/STRIKE] flash, but someone more knowledgeable may correct me. Make sure you are on the latest version of chrome too

Chrome will stop supporting Chrome? ;)

It's OK - I know what you mean ... Chrome may stop supporting Flash. (Like it already has stopped supporting Silverlight).
  • Cheers bod :o

  • Thank you, both.

I got the message when I tried to play an online radio station called ESC Radio. I think that the site must have been trying to force the installation of an infected copy of Flashplayer or perhaps a program that is not Flashplayer at all.

I Googled around a bit and have found that many instructions to update Flashplayer are not genuine. I am deep cleaning my machine to be sure.

Only download Flash Player from the official website:-
https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ (internet connection required during install)
https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html (full installers, no internet required during install)

The latest versions have an auto-update option that can be switched on so that they'll update themselves automatically and silently in future without bothering you.

Interesting story here as to the origin of adobe_flashplayer_7.exe and comes with more than a hint of irony.
