SORN...lost log book

Hi guys...i've just bought a new car and want to SORN my old one as i'm going to scrap it. I've gone to look for the log book and cant find it anywhere. Anyone have any idea how i can SORN, scrap & get my remaining car tax back without it? Thanks in advance :money:

Get a replacement V5 then do all you wish, in future file your documents that are important in a secure but easily locate-able place.

I agree...usually i'm organised...but a manic house move put a spanner in the works

Dunno, you will have to check on the DVLA site, house move or not , important documents should be stored in a easy located place, can save a lot of trouble or heartache later on.

It's a pity, you have missed a full month, it's 1st Nov! Print off a sorn form & post it.

I had to get a V5 for a vehicle I bought , (without V5) , in my case they write to the last owner and give them 14 days to reply , no reply and you get the V5 , 6 weeks it took!

you cannot do a sorn , without the V5 number , or the tax reminder number

Easiest thing for you do is:
Complete the V62 (Log book) https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/application-for-a-vehicle-registration-certificate

Complete the V890 (SORN) https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/v890-statutory-off-road-notification-sorn

Send off both together in same envelope.
