Which savings and ISA account?

We're looking to invest some money for 12 months probably £3,000 each for my wife and I in an ISA and £5000 in a savings account. We then will need to use most of it after 1 year. We're currently with First Direct and would prefer an account that we can manage on line. I've gone through alot of the information on here but there is so much to take in.
Please could you clever people advise what they would do to earn the best interest?
