Parking in Birmingham for a Week, where?

I need to go to Birmingham for a Sunday - Friday soon. Really don't want to get the train (local engineering works on the Sunday, have to go via Central London and takes 4hrs + instead of 2.5).

I am having slight issues in figuring out what I should do re parking though. I need to be in Birmingham all week and don't need the car, eg. I can park it somewhere Sunday eve and not go back to it until Friday eve. As a result I would prefer to leave it somewhere that has cameras/security. I've seen parking at the Mailbox for £20 per night, but one of my friends said can't I park at the airport if I don't need to take the car in and out during the week. I imagine they check your flight number to make sure you are actually going on holiday, though?!

Does anyone know if I am on the right lines thinking the Mailbox will be the kind of thing I need to aim for? Are there places I can reserve parking? The hotel I am at only gives info re local multi-storey where I can park 8am-6pm for £7 which doesn't really help.

Q park at Brindley place £16/day has all the security you desire, and if you have a certain Halifax account you may get 25% discount.

ETA, they have another park at the fiveways park for £19.30 a week.

Really? Why not? That seems the most obvious answer by a country mile.

if you are near the airport would the station car park be any good?

parking at the station i think is £8.00 for 24 hrs weekdays and £5.00 at weekends

I take the car here park up and catch the train in to london for a long weekend

if you are going to birmingham then train from international to new street every few minutes

Because the car can't be there from 6pm onwards...It's day only according to the hotel. I thought they meant I can't take it out after 6pm but apparently no cars should be there. They said they no longer advise parking there due to issues with cameras not working anyway.

Some of the outlying stations in Birmingham have free park and ride car parks that allow you to stay for up to a week. You need a valid train ticket to get through the barrier when you leave but that should cost you less than a fiver.

Or you could use the Longbridge long stay parking at £1.50 per 24 hours. Note that the car parks are not where the pin shows on the map (which is at Longbridge station) but on the opposite side of Bristol Road South. To get into the city centre it's a short walk to the station or get a 63 or 98 bus from Bristol Road South.

Thing is it looks like the op wants a secure car park.

You can park for free on the outskirts e.g. Northfield, and get a cheap train in (about £3) and back out at the end of the week; much cheaper than paying for a car park. The station car park is free or you could park a bit further away in a residential road.

 And leave it there unattended for a week, good luck with that :rotfl:
  • Park at the airport - know one will ask you to prove you are booked on a flight.

Have you thought of private driveway parking? People rent out their driveways by the day/week/month. Locally to me it's very popular. I'm sure a Google would come up with some ideas.
