universal credit no need to attend job centre anymore

I have been on universal credit for 3 months now, after the new claim interview it was all complete
however, I have not been attending the weekly appointments and I am being paid monthly.
I am also doing work experience 5 days per week which I told the jobcentre from the start of
my claim. I also have not logged into my Universal Jobmatch at all. Can anyone confirm that you do not have to attend the jobcentre and will automatically
be paid monthly?

I think it must all depend upon the JobCentre.
I've been signing-on for a year now and have just been transferred to the work programme. I asked if i'm to be going there does that mean i don't have to come here. They told me No, you have to come to both.
As i got towards the end of my year signing-on the JC sent me on a computer couse (4 days per week). It lasted about 8wks. But while i was on it i still had to go and sign at the JC. Other people who were on the same course had been told by different JCs that they signed-on that it didn't matter. There was no need for them to come to sign so long as they were attending the course.

No one can answer your question :)

What was in your claimant commitment? What did you agree with your job coach?

Perhaps because you are doing work experience 5 days a week you won't have to attend the interviews or job search during this time.

You need to ask/check to avoid a sanction.
  • In my opinion it could be because of the changes as before JSA would close if not attended or when employed. My adviser said I must attend job centre appointments weekly even though I do work exp MON-FRI and I did not attend at all. The difference of Universal Credit is even in employment it would not close the claim and that might be why job centre appointments can be skipped. Im glad as I now save money of travel costs from bus travel. Maybe in future they might cut job centre staff ?

The work experience you're doing, check with the JC about travel to that. When they sent me on the computer course i was told to bring the bus ticket from the first day, then that was added for the duration of the course to my benefits.

It all depends on the JC advisor. I got sent on a 6-week course back in January. My advisor told me that he would do an advanced signing in order to avoid me having to come in.

Only the Self-employed or those working and on UC are exempt from signings at JCPs (they have 3 monthly reviews).

You refer to weekly appointments - were any notified to you on a small UC card?

It's probably that you've been exempted due to your work experience, but best checking, as the DWP might seek to recover any overpayments.
