Is this a speed record for 3G internet?

I just noticed my file downloads were going very fast, so, out of curiosity, I ran a speed test on Speedtest.net
It came back with an average download speed of 10.15Mbsp.
Has anyone beaten that, on 3G?

Not really.
https://www.broadbandgenie.co.uk/mobilebroadband/roadtripThree 3G also recorded the second fastest top speed (for both 3G and 4G) of 15.41Mb.
These things are more dependent on signal quality, where you are, whether your shoes are tied and whether there's an R in the month as to what speeds you can get and sustain. Three 3g can be quite good actually and 4g is supposed to be even better.0 -
Some users have got speeds of 20 - 30Mbit/s on some of Three's 3G networks when they're on DC-HSPA+ masts and suitable phones/devices.
3G version DC-HSPA+ can theoretically achieve 42Mbit/s

Work this out.
I was in my friends last week. We both downloaded the speedtest app.
We both have iPhones (an iPhone 5 and an iPhone 6s). We're both on Tesco mobile.
Sat the phones next to each other on the table. Selected the same servers on the app and ran the speed tests.
Her phone (iPhone 6s) showed 3G speed of 2mb-2.5mb. My iPhone 5 showed speeds of between 13mb and 15mb.
As I said. Both on Tesco mobile sim only.
At first I thought I was still connected to wifi but nope. Triple checked.
We ran the test several times and always the same.
No idea why there was such a massive difference.Sigless0 -

devices can vary in their performance quite dramatically, due to hardware, software or combination of both.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

3 years ago i had a Nexus 4 on O2 and I got 15-16 mbps on 3G at work.0 -

I would have assumed the 6s would perform better than the 5. I didn't expect identical speeds but such a massive discrepancy on phones using the same network and software surely isn't right.Sigless0
