Previously took a 5 year fixed mortgage with the Leeds which included home and travel insurance. I did ask the question about looking for our own insurance but the advisor said it's actually part of the deal, and if we did go elsewhere we wouldn't be able to have the rate they were offering.
I'm not sure whether this would be under the criteria for being mis-sold.

Many deals over the years have included a cross subsidy insurance purchase requirement. These are allowed. Typically they require you to have the insurance for the first year but you are free to move after that.

They are less common nowadays. Very common in the mid 90s through to early 2000s. Prior to that it was mandatory to have home insurance through that lender (and again, that was allowed at the time).

Even if you were lied to and it was not a packaged deal, you would not expect a complaint to succeed as you almost certainly have no evidence to support your allegation and you do need house insurance. So, its not as if you would get a refund of the premiums as you cant prove that you would have bought it elsewhere.
