Digital satellite receiver

Options
What are these like, anyone? Do you get just the normal free to air channels or can you get 1000's. Do you have to have a dish or just plug in to your tv??
Cheers

You need a dish, you can get hundreds of " Free " channels, hardly any are worth watching.

But I only ever watch BBC and ITV channels. What makes you say these aren't worth watching?

Fair enough, if that really is all you watch, then you don't need a satellite receiver at all, you can get them on analogue via your aerial.

Or better still via a Freeview Receiver.

I would be careful of buying this.

There are two types of "Free" television channels available on satellite.

    1. FTA. Free to Air.
    2. FTV. Free to View

FTA means that if you have any satellite receiver you can watch the programme.
FTV means that you need to have a card to watch the programmes but you don't need to pay a monthly subscription. I think Sky charge £20 for a card. A lot of the channels on Freesat are FTV, so you may find that you won't be able to watch them on this receiver, as it probably doesn't have the electronics or the card slot for Freesat in the UK.

Lidl is a German company, this equipment is designed for the German market where much of the satellite TV is FTA.
