My First "Ragghh" 24 hours after Bankruptcy

The backlash has started and I need to vent my frustration. Only a day after my bankruptcy and my Grandad (a self made multi millionaire) has found out. Just to point out, he is the tightest ba****d on the planet and only got where he is now by being an Ars*hole.

Anyway, he decides to lecture my mother (What does this have to do with her???) on/off for 3 hours about it, bringing up my Dad's- way in the past bankruptcy in the process.

What is wrong with people? Why can't they just leave people in peace. He has never done anything for me, (I asked once in desperation and got point blank refused) so why does he think that he has the right to say these things. I am so ragghh about the whole thing, everyone else has been very supportive!

The rest of my extended family are bound to be agreeing with him now (the prospect of inheritence is a powerful thing!) ignorant idiot.

I've always said that he's never done anything for us, he's hardly been a typical grandad, I don't think he even bothered to learn my name until I was about 10! aggrrhhh!

Sorry, but have other people come across things like this? If so how did they deal with it??? I know WDIAG has some good ones!

You can choose your friends, but you are lumbered with your family.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)
  • Aw whoops, just what you don't need right now is some self-righteous 'person' spouting off.
Remember though, he will be old and lonely, the only friends he has are just after the inherietance. You, on the other hand have real family and friends. They have stuck by you because of you, not because of anything they may one day get.
The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter :(
  • Shame on your grandad whoops!

Dont let him make you feel bad, its not worth it, you had a problem, and you had the courage to sort it the best way you could.
Like stephen said, we cant choose our family.

I hope things with family settle down quickly and if its mentioned, just tell them its not open to discussion!
Get on with your new debt free life !.............yippeee :)

sorry to hear things are getting to you...funny thing is BR seems to bring out all the so called "experts"...i've a brother who was exactly the same with me, It annoys me so much people come with their oppinions......these people have NO IDEA about BR what the effects are & will have on you so usually my answer to anybody in the family giving me grief is...keep your gob shut...usually works for me...your family should be happy to see you've taken hold of a problem & sorted out a soultion instead of trying to carry on with your head in the sand ;O

  • Thank-you, at least I know that people here actually know what i'm going through (you are the only ones allowed to officially judge me!!) You are right the "it's not open to discussion" is probably the best route. I'm the kind of person that lets things boil up and all of a sudden creates world war three. I should try to avoid him (i've managed to play a good game of that with crediors so i'm well practised). I just hate the thought that he could influence the views of others! Thanks again people (calm, calm!)

If you keep thinking like that you'll do fine! people don't have the right to judge anyone till they know the facts....I had a set series of replies written down in preparation for anyone having a go at me...I'm the same as you...I used to let things "brew" until I blew...it makes you ill & feel worse about yourself...don't do it!! you've NOTHING to be ashamed of & NOTHING to answer to...just look forward to a possible early discharge!
