PS4 - a few questions

from what i have observed any price cut usually happens in either march, june or november. theres no guarantee they will do a price cut next year and if they do it wont be likely to be by any more than about £30 i would think. the price of a ps3 still hasnt gone below £200. another thing to consider as retailers want your xmas cash some of them create very good value bundles around this time of year. so its worth looking around.0

Not sure if this helps, but I just picked up a couple of cheap PS4 games from QD Stores of all places. Looks like they're doing games now - £39.99 seems the standard price there.0

I got a 500gb ps4 with Star Wars battlefront and fallout games for £310 from Argos last week (and got £15 of vouchers as well) , most places I looked still wanted £300+ for second hand consoles, I doubt they will drop much in price until x-box do or there is a PS5 on the horizon0

Also, it's worth trying to find a CUH-1200 if you're thinking of buying a new PS4 soon. The 1200 is the latest revision with better power consumption and noise levels.0

I would imagine that a new spec PS4 will be coming in 2016. Sony tend to refine their consoles after about 2-3 years of it being launched.
If you are not in a hurry I'd wait until the new year. It would be a bummer to get the last run of an old spec.0 -

You do know that there has already been a hardware revision of the PS4 which was launched this year through the summer there - quietly done so as to avoid arousing any suspicion. The power consumption was slightly improved along with a slight reduction in weight, in terms of places to go with PS4's overall spec there really isn't many places to go. The slimline option exists, but I'd suggest they'd be reluctant to attempt that, wouldn't fancy running that sort of grunt with reduced space for cooling.
Any material changes to consoles these days tend to be quiet & mundane, I don't see them following the Playstation trend of slimming down the consoles. If I was a gambling man, my money would be on an Xbox One slim long before we see a PS4 slim.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -

I don't think the PS4 has that much to refine they made some changes replacing the capacitive button with a physical button and some internal changes.
The PS3 had a few things that could be refined from the first release such as removing the card readers, removing the PS2 chips for backwards compatibilty, losing half of the usb connections and other such improvements.0 -
Star Wars Battlefront is good if you like first person shooters/multiplayer online/star wars them games. In my opinion, PES football is generally a better football game playing wise, but FIFA is generally a better licensed game and has more online options - endless debate as to which is best, but IMO not much between them.
Not sure I can see PS4 prices dropping dramatically after Christmas, more about what you can get as bundles. Also, look out for voucher deals. I got a PS4 steering wheel from Tesco when they were doing the double up voucher deal in the summer so saved about £30 against the cheapest alternative. You might find it's cheaper to buy from a slightly more expensive place using vouchers or voucher codes, but still expect to pay around the £300 mark. PS4 vs XBOX 1 is a personal choice. If you play online versus friends, then go for what they have.
Re refurb. from Game - depends what it costs. If it saves enough, you still have the warranty, plus it's probably easier to take back if you have a local store.0 -
