Web design and maintenance

Hi we are doing okay selling toys, video games and dvd online. Have our own website but feel there is alot more we could do with it. Problem is our webdesigner is in India and although very cheap is hard to contact when things go wrong and slow.
Would love to get one of our staff trained up in web design just wondering if anyone knows the best course to go for (part/time) and what if any help is available for training.

I'm self taught, so can't advise on courses..

Just wanted to say that most (if not all) the information is available free online if you have the time to hunt it down...

lol i know what you mean, one of my guy's is in vietnam, does all the work perfectly but cos of the time difference and stuff I can rarely ever talk to him...!
I thought about learning but it just seemed so damn long! Plus going back to Uni soon, gotta save space in my brain for the degree.
