On jsa and data protection

Just though I might write this and see if anyone out there has had the same experience.:money:
About four months ago after being on JSA for around four months or so and emailing my CV into around 250 or so jobs ,I applied to a company for part time work .:j
This company specalises in giving loans to people who are out of work and have damaged credit ratings.
I recieved a phone call off them about two or three weeks after I had applied for the job and had someone who claimed to work there quizing me about being out of work.
Then only a week after I had the phone call suddenly I had email after email from the afor mentioned company trying to get me into their shops and taking advantage of their overpriced credit.
I immediately put two and two together and got 4 .
Does anyone out there think that these scumbags actually advertise jobs (maybe even none existant ones)to get people into the shops .
My email was on my cv and I had never had any dealings with this company before.
Of course I junked their emails straight away
I think this is a dirty nasty trick to play on the poorest and most vulnerable in society

  • Yes. There are numerous scams and dodgy companies out there sadly. There are those that collect details by advertising fake jobs. These are seemingly doing that and using it to try and get you into the shops. Hopefully most won't fall for it though if they're trying to force you into taking credit and aren't going on about the job applied for.

Wouldn't be surprised if they sold your details on either.

    Best advice is:
    - Check and see how many times the same job has been posted and over how long. They usually post constantly to get as many people as possible.
    - Check out the details for any company websites. You can look up when they started the website and how long they have the domain registered for. New startup with only a year or two domain is usually a bad sign.
    - Check for obvious grammar and spelling mistakes.
    - If they seem really general and advertise various positions in the same way there's a good chance they're all fake and just trying to get details.
-If you're unsure just google the company. You'll usually find something on them, especially if they are dodgy.

    What is the company?
  • Similar mysteries here but found more other way horrified I'd used the service, rather then lure me in. I have bad credit. Had some mighty strange experiences..
Them high cost credit places for employment is a weird one I think, they only like to employ on the 'inside' and one of the last time's
I applied to one when in receipt of JSA, I found myself extra grilled none other than by the JCP, I think where they had received multiple complaints, so they know it goes on I believe, although it helped keep my Jsa at the time when it could have turned nasty so must not grumble, a good outcome when I kind of realised why I wouldn't fit as well, if anything I'd now be careful if I really had to waste my time applying somewhere it would only be if I've never been a customer regrettably as I think it's that bad :( so never mind being lured in here

Applied to BH before now and only ones really to never respond at all. Their job adverts are as peculier as the time I walked past a store when they had stuck what was an internal poster on the public facing side, not so bright.. I thought it explained everything, lucky see really.

I know. They worked it out because they've dealt with them though. As someone who has never had any dealings with loan companies or applied for any jobs with them and ignores all things to do with loads BH means nothing at all to me.

A quick search brought up this thread and a couple of names, but one isn't loans it's finance on things, the other doesn't have a shop. So I still don't know.

It's not always a good idea to name and shame companies, but if they're scamming people it makes sense to name them so that people know to avoid them and so it comes up in search engines.

I think BH = Brighthouse, I will be happy to delete this post if not correct.

They don't do loans though do they? Do they do finance on items.

It was one of the things that came up when I searched. They have a shop, things do work out very overpriced and I don't think they care much who they give credit to. You may be right that it's them, but I wouldn't say they give loans.

I never said they do loans - what they do is provide expensive credit to people who have little or no ability to get credit from mainstream lenders
