This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning and Samhain Blessings to all
Hubby's phone rang in the middle of the night and caused great panic, but it was the alarm company. there was an intruder alert at work and they wanted hubby to go up & check it out as there were short staffed.
I'm hoping to defrost my freezers today ready for Christmas & I also have an untidy corner in the living room to sort out, apart from that it will be the usual driving and checking on family. FIL is getting very paranoid so this is adding to the other problems.
I'm hoping to find a small space today for some me time, maybe a little pampering or some crochet. I'm back to work on Monday so visiting MIL will happen in the afternoon. I don't feel I've had much of a reat this half term.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning everyone
HH - Thanks for starting us off. Thinking of you and your family - hugs x
Now light, very wet underfoot, dark, dank and dreich, looks like it could be like this all day.
DH and I are enjoying first cuppas of the day. I've already showered and dressed as I'm working this morning. DH will take me in and he'll go to the bank as soon as it opens then come back and collect me at lunchtime when I finish.
He should be painting my en suite ceiling whilst I'm at work - it's a tiny room and can only fit one person in at a time, so should be a relatively quick job. One to cross off the list.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken pieces, chips and salad for the menfolk. I had med veg tart and salad, they did all have a small piece of the veg tart, but still a good amount that's now in the fridge. Dinner tonight will be noodles, veg rice and prawns in black bean sauce.
Wasn't particularly productive yesterday once I'd done the food shopping, just couldn't summon up and get up and go - it appears to have got up and gone! Did manage to hoover through tho and didn't bother doing any cooking/baking as still have 3/4 of the victoria sponge left and half a tub of oat biscuits - I don't want to cook more then for some to be thrown away. We also do have scones, and hot cross buns, so have treats in the tins.
Have a good Saturday everyone x
Keep safe and well x

csarina How is OH this morning? xx
Hester I hope you get some time to yourself xx
I didn't enjoy the trip to the tip, we took the bath but it stuck out the back of the van a bit. The doors were tied tight but I was still convinced everything was going to fall out the back as we were driving along
I have some onions and garlic for the garden, the garden's very wet though so I won't be planting them today.
Scampi's Halti stuff arrived yesterday, I chose free delivery so wasn't expecting it for a few days. I've fitted the headcollar, I was expecting a struggle but he just stood there and let me adjust it. Not sure how he'll be once the lead's on, I'm going to have a couple of trial runs in the garden first.
No plans for today, just pottering about. Again

Morning everyone and a Merry Samhain to you all, I will be lighting candles tonight in memory of loved ones that have passed.
Weather is dull and foggy this morning, the girls had me up early so back already and drinking first tea of the day.
Really enjoyed last night's meal with friends, we talked about so many happy memories when we all worked together and it was just what I needed to cheer me up. Nice food and the portions weren't huge so had three courses.
Need to run through the house today, girls are still losing summer coats although slowing a bit, we have wooden floors so it's puffs into the corners.
This afternoon am due to meet up with friends at the yard and will go out over the fens on the horses, then later out for another meal with two DSS, they fancy a curry which am not keen on but least means won't eat so much :rotfl: but love seeing the boys and catching up on their news.
Hope everyone has a good day x0 -
Morning everyone.
Thanks for the thread HH.
Yesterday I managed to book tickets for a theatre production in London next year. Internet booking took about an hour just in the queue and once I reached the head of it another 10mins to select and pay for tickets. It's the two part Harry Potter play - it sounds like madness but I just took a fancy to it!
Then I tidied the garden up a bit and the house. There were lots of things in the wrong place which just annoyed me. Once I opened a large drawer upstairs I 'found' loads of unused toiletries lurking so I pulled some out to use. Shower gel particularly, I won't have to buy anymore for at least 18 months.
Today I have Halloween balloons to blow up. There are no children nearby but I've been warned about one coming to visit. He phoned to tell me he's going to give me the biggest scare so I'd better be ready. I have no idea what to give kids these days. My mum used to buy a whole box of apples and a sack of monkey nuts to hand out.
There's a washing machine to switch on now.
I hope everyone has a good day.0 -
Morning All
Wet and windy this morning, washing will go on the airers. DW emptied, need to empty out the fire sometime but it's a bit windy to take the ash to the bin at the moment, I'll be covered!
Hung the curtains at the hall window last night and pinned the ones for the door. Hemmed one but am running out of thread so will get that this morning. Once they have been hemmed I'll get the machine out and sew in the thermal linings.
HH - How much more can life throw at you? Big hugs to you and your family.
RR - Here's hoping Noodles can find a forever home soon.
Lainey - Hope you find something soon.
Hope your DH is ok Csarina, what a worry.
TA - Hope your caravan is ok.
Need to go for some supplies this morning then Ike@ later on my way to DDs, I'll stay there tonight as we are going to the Bake show at Edinburgh tomorrow. I'll probably take her to the supermarket too, she needs slightly too much to carry and not enough to warrant the delivery charge.
Have a good weekend, hope the weather is better than here. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all. Miserable start here too but at least it's forecast to stay dry. And it feels un-seasonably warm too.
I thought I had renewed my internet security yesterday but this morning a message popped up to say it had expired! I go in panic mode when comp problems arise and go in brain shutdown! Anyway what I had done was renew the subscription on my old comp and had to reinstall it on a new device. All sorted now! You comp wizards on here have my utmost admiration!
It's great niece's Christening today (I know, very unusual to be a Saturday) followed by a "do" at a very nice restaurant. Mr TA says he'll go to the service but doesn't want to go to the do after. He can't be bothered socialising with his family. All gushing over him wanting to know how he is and what the latest is. I can understand him and not bothered myself either. If these relatives were so interested they would ring him up occasionally or, better still, visit wouldn't they and not wait till the next social occasion. I can't abide false concern. S*d the lot of them! At least we have the support of DD and DS and our friends, and even my own DB shows more concern than his lot.
So going to the service at mid-day will have to be fit in amongst my Friday clean up, yet again postponed to Saturday! We haven't even managed a supermarket shop yet this week so thinking that will have to be done at tea-time. At least it will get us away from the never-ending stream of trick or treaters that appear at dusk! Oh I'm getting a right misery in my old age!!
Have a good day one and all (((((HUGS))))) to all of you in need and take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one. OH rang last night, he had another fainting spell after I left, he as still in the same ward, he had not been moved at that point. I hope they did not move him in the middle of the night!!
I am going in later, taking DD2 with me, just now I am staying in bed, rather tired although I slept ok. Apparently OH had to wait in the ambulance for over an hour before getting in the door. Things are going from bad to worse at LRI. They were supposed to have a new system starting last week. All I can say is, it's not working. Had he gone to Nottingham, he would have been seen within 15 minutes.........I do not know the Nottingham hospital at all, he has always been at LRI maybe we should think again, it's only going to get worse as the winter progresses.0 -
Hugs Csarina, MIL has been moved twice between 10 & 11 at night, she finds it very disorienting.
I hope things are sorted for you soon.

Morning all,
Bit overcast here atm but meant to be a beautiful warm day later on, we shall see ! I have three loads to go through the machine and hang out today and the house needs a good clean through.
Going to drop dd at work and will then come back and get on with it, OH can help too.
Hester hugs to you what a hard time you are going through xx
Csarina I hope DH improves x
Thanks for the good wishes re noodles, its a really sad situation, yes it is the rescue that want to put her to sleep unless a home can be found, they want someone young and strong enough for her but that really never goes out or can get someone to sit with her if they do, she is also dog aggressive which they don't think they can un-train in her. I so wish I could have her as she was happy here and I could handle her but its just not practical with us all working, a dog share would be ideal ! anyway keep your fingers crossed.
Have good days all xx0
