Can anybody help me with two e-mail problems I have.
The first is that when I first go into OE and click on an e-mail I get a box come up that says; The path specified for the file c:\*****\Email\Outlook.pst is not valid.
If I then click OK I get the create/Open Personal Folders box, which I jsut close and everything is fine.
This has only recently started happening and I don't know what caused it to happen.
Can somebody help me by explaining how to stop it please.
The other problem is that a friend who reguarly send me e-mails gets them returned to him. If they do get through to me, and sometimes it takes 3 or 4 goes, then they go into my junk mail folder.
He has a couple of adresses and the problem only occurs from one of them. He also tells me that he does not have the problem with anybody else.
I know how to prevent adresses getting through, but how do set OE up to allow e-mails from this particular address.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and as mentioned before, I do not have a great technical mind when it comes to things like this, so easy instructions would be helpful.
Many thanks in advance

If the first problem has only just started happening, returning to an earlier restore point should clear the problem.
Regarding the returned emails from just one account - you need to go the the email website and change settings for spam folder, allowing your friend's emails access.0 -
Thanks for the reply libra10.
I have found the setting for allow this senders through and have clicked it. Hopefully I will find out later today whether I have been successful.
I am not quite sure why I didn't find that myself.
As far as the restore is concerned I would prefer to try an alternative solution first if there is one. I can't remember how long ago this started, although I think it ws a couple of weeks, but there could be something that I may lose.
Again many thanks for your help.0 -
Did any body have an alternative suggestion to the restore?
Many thanks0 -

See this thread for a possible fix, though the person had to reinstall XP in the end.0 -

Have you checked the path yourself using Explorer?MisterNick wrote: »If I then click OK I get the create/Open Personal Folders box, which I jsut close and everything is fine.
So you are closeing this box without sorting out the problem? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Thanks for the replies.
I have had another look and I think Outlook, not Outlook Express, is my default program. Does that make sense?
I seem to remember Outlook and OE having a battle to be my default browser at one stage. This happened after installing microsoft Office which has Outlook Express.
espresso - I am closing the box because it is the only way to progress.
- I have also just checked the path. It goes into a folder entitled e-mail within one of my folders. In the E-mail folder there are two files with one called backup.pst and the other is outlook.pst. They both have symbols next to them that I think I recognise from microsdoft Office
I right clicked on the outlook.pst and got a drop down box which had delete as an option. I didn't select it though as I thought I had better ask here.
I closed the drop down box by clicking outside of it, and now the problem seems to have gone away
I have just looked through Explorer and outlook.pst and backup.pst are showing as Office data files.
As the problem seems to have gone away, should I ignore it, or is there something more sinister going on that I don't know about?
Many thanks.0
