Partner starting work?

If my partner has a DRO and we live in the same household. If I start a higher paid job, does this cancel her DRO? Would her spare income increase?

No it won't necessarily cancel the DRO.

She is liable to pay no less than 50% of the joint household expenses. If she was paying more than 50% due to your income being lower then her share of the household expenses will be reduced to 50%. Her spare income could be increased as a result.

Thank you. National Debtline and Stepchange seem to think that my partner would be expected to pay less than 50% if I earned more, received more income than she does. Which answer is correct?

Expected...no I expect each person in a partnership to pay up to 50% of the shared household bills if they can afford it. If the bills aren't covered by each persons contribution then someone has to pay more than 50% but if the bills are covered then it's 50% each.

It's more up to you rather than anyone else. I expect if I have enough money to pay all of the bills but my partner earns some money they'll put as much as they can towards the household bills but not more than 50% of the shared bills.
